June 28 at 1:00am until June 30 at 8:00pm

100 families of the tribe in Sierra Madre will be the beneficiaries. Seedlings of rice, corn, different kinds of vegetables and fruit bearing trees were needed for their livelihood.


The team will be needing
 
50 sets of school supplies
100 pairs of slippers and other footwear of different sizes
old clothes and beddings

We will also clean wounds. 
Teach basic education.

 A new mall in the Metro is opening soon. It's SM Aura Premier located at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. You may see it when you pass by C-5 Road. Shoppers will now have an option aside from Ayala's Market Market.

The majestic perfect coned land formation in Bicol erupted Tuesday morning (May 7, 2013). 4 unfortunate trekkers lost their lives while scaling the volcano's rugged surface. Fatalities where three foreigners  and a tour guide. Another trekker is critical.

The ash spew was about 500 meters. Philvocs (Philippine Volcanology and Seismology) maintains alert level 0 as of now there were no reported lava flow out of the volcano.

Then eruption of Mayon Volcano was brought by steams that has been long kept pushing ashes to the skies. The ashes were blown to Guinobatan, Oas, Polangui, Jovellar, Libon and Pio Duran.

BOSTON in Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. The word was shocked with the bombing of a century old event.

The event is truimphed by hundreds of runners from around the world of different nationality. The first explotion was around four hours after race culminated, just the time when a huge number of runners coming before the finish line.

Hundreds were injured and three other died. CNN said that "at least 144 people were hospitalized, with at least 17 in critical condition and 25 in serious condition, officials said. At least eight of the patients are children".

Philippines is an easy target for such terroristic attack. There are fun climbs, fun runs, marathons and "FOR A CAUSE" events almost weekly. This is a call for being vigilant. Philippine authorities said that there is no plot in the country after the Boston bombing.

  The family of Victor Joel Ayson, the outdoorsman who had a fatal fall at Mt. Maculot, Batangas,  had finally found his remains. He was cremated for his remains are in its decomposition state and may not viewed on a coffin for its health hazard state.

  We were in Mt. Batulao last March 29 and 30 for our family's overnight outdoor trip. I keep on staring at a scooped ice cream like land formation adjacent to Mt. Batulao. It is the well known Mt. Maculot. I have not experienced the trails of this haven.

  When we got back to Manila, we were saddened to learn that a fellow enthusiasts ( although we don't know him personally) is missing. I felt goosebumps, for I know how dangerous the hobby is. Posts on a social networking site hinted me that its getting serious and might be another hot topic on a Philippine online group.

  A lot of things come to my mind. Well, I planned to explore this mountain with my one-year old daughter and my wife. After seeing a suspected site in the news where Victor might have tripped, I felt thankful for not pushing the exploration.

  The Pinoys are more outgoing nowadays. I started trekking when Sir Romy Garduce succeeded Mt. Everest. It is true that I have named myself  "A MOUNTAINEER" after descending my first climb. As I climb and explore different trek destinations, I got more acquainted with the trend and different idealism of this hobby. The danger, creepiness, and hardship stories were shared on camp socials. Some stories flared up the desire of getting into the dangerous leisure despite of its unfortunate stories.

  Some of the stories were of Roly Fabro who died in Mt. Mayon, the search,  rescue and retrieval in Mt. Halcon, the campers in Buruwisan falls in Mt. Romelo, the drowning in flash floods and boat wreck, the creepy stories of enchanted rivers and mountains who took lives as sacrifice, spirit sightings, and many more. 

  I would like to salute those who were lost and joined our creator in paradise. I also lost a sibling ( but not in the same manner - he was murdered ) whom I carry along in my heart where ever my itchy feet takes me.

A groupmate in Bagwis Outdoors wanted to share his food creations on his guideship package. He is Jan Layag, a very energetic educator and a tourist guide. He is a hero to our local Dumagat brothers for his never ending and unpublished outreach activities.

Sierra Madre is the ancestral domain of the Dumagats. Sir Jan is very much particular to Mt. Balagbag - Maranat complex. Ask him what trail to use, and he knows even he's asleep. Kidding aside, he is a very down to earth person, who is willing to give himself to others. I admire him for that.

He allowed me to share this foods that he cooked for his clients, and friends. Since I haven't asked him names for his masterpiece, well, I took the advantage to name those.

  Summer! It's too hot in Philippines especially if you are in the city jungle. Sometimes I feel delirious of dipping my body on a streams of water.

My kid had slept and I got bored so I browsed some of my pictures in the computer. I saw our pictures in one of the spots in Tanay, Rizal.

Our family really loved a falls in here. After going under a cave, we trek for a couple of minutes and camp or take a dip on a small falls under a balete tree. After the cool down, we resume our trek down the Batlag falls where you can find a big tree in the middle of a pool like down stream.

It's the same tree I visit every time I got the chance to get wet with the cold water of the falls. The tree is still there, I just got older and fatter.

If you want to get out of Manila to take a dip on a cold fresh water, try visiting Tanay, Rizal and swim on either Batlag or the famous Daranak Falls. Or you may also try Daraitan and Daong river for more adventure spirited people.

Mt. Gulugod Baboy is in Mabini, Batangas.

It's my brother's vacation. Being a OFW, he missed camping out. So long before he arrive I have searched great mountains to trek. 

Just a few hours from Manila we rode buses and P.U. jeeps to reach the town. We went to the market and purchased foods for the camp.

Along trail were makeshift stores of local summer delicacies called halo-halo (I believe that it is a Filipino version of baobing), a cow, forked footpaths, and houses of local residents. A couple of hours of steep hike and we reach the camp site. To our dismay, there's a community just beside the camp and there's a road for 4 wheeled vehicles.

We descended the day after and hit the concrete road searching for a beach resort to stay. We had a decent air conditioned room with a comfort room, of course. The night came and a mini-feast was celebrated. We had couple of drinks in the shore enjoying the starry skies.

We enjoyed the beach seeing some school of fish and beautiful ladies on their swim wear.

The holy week has passed again. I am very much sure that Mt. Banahaw is once again raped by pilgrims and the like.

Nature can rejuvenate by herself but she cannot remove the unnecessary and foreign things on her skin. So we, (if ever I got a financial sponsor for the event.. haha) the outdoor enthusiast, got to help her clean her and make her breathe better.

It's been a year and so since I joined the crusade . Experiencing hardship and pleasure together makes me a better person.

Powerful countries are now at their highest alert against each other and we are in the middle of it. What are they fighting for? Fame? Resources? Power tripping?

It will only take a missile to be erase Philippines from the world map. All of her beauty will be liquified. Though we are not part of the rage, stray missiles and radiation might hit our country.
