Donsol Whale Watching w Mangrove Tree Planting
Start:     Dec 26, '09 8:00p
End:     Dec 29, '09 05:00a
DONSOL Whale Sharks Encounter, Mangrove Tree Planting
Romancing with the Fire Fly and Albay/Legaspi
Albay Legaspi Bicol Eco Tour 2009

For decades, the seafaring native of Donsol, Sorsogon have been living in the company of the Butandings – huge, gentle whale sharks that live in great numbers offshore. In a still-unexplained natural phenomenon, droves of these rare animals appear in the waters off this town during the summer months in Sorsogon.

Get the chance to swim with the gentle giant whale sharks found in Donsol, Sorsogon. FYI: they are vegetarian, promise. Then, row your way and enjoy the magnificent view of nipas and trees in Bicol river, understanding the fresh water ecosystem, that attracts the shark whales. And experience the magical sights of thousands of fireflies dancing, flickering and romancing making the trees glow in the dark. And get to wonder at the majestic Mayon Volcano in Albay.

Itinerary:
Day 0 Dec 26 Sat 8 pm Bus Terminal
Day 1 Dec 27 Sun 4 am ETA Legaspi City, proceed to Donsol, Sorsogon for the whale
shark interaction. Enjoy the rare experience of swimming along with the whale sharks as they feed. Some are bigger than your boat! During the peak season, you wouldn’t know where to look because several whale sharks may appear at the same time.

3 pm Mangrove Tree Planting, Firefly watch in Donsol River. The river (source of the plankton that serves as food for the whale sharks) abounds with mangroves inhabited by fireflies. Along the way to the firefly sanctuary, you will see fishermen at work.
Sea Food Dinner Buffet beside the river.

Day 2 Dec 28 Mon Whole day tour of Albay : Cagsawa Ruins, Phivolcs Observatory,
communities covered by lahar, Mayon Skyline Park on the shoulder of the
volcano, shopping in handicraft shops in Legazpi City. Overnite in Legazpi City
