A Day at Ambon-ambon Falls
A friend of mine invited me to an outdoor activity in Laguna. We went to a falls somewhere in Panguil, Laguna.
It is not the usual activity that I am engaged with. Not like the past adventures, I would guide students on their Educational Trip in an outdoor set-up. There where six buses loaded with students, house-help ( I guess ) and parents.
Together with my fellow outdoor enthusiasts, we bound a van going to the venue. I'm thrilled for what will happen for the day. When we got to the venue, our team leader held the briefing on what's gonna happen and what we are tasked to do. I've read about the place few hours before I carry my backpack.
The event was held at Panguil River Eco Park in Panguil, Laguna. Minutes after, the buses started to arrive. The students then came running on the steel hanging bridge. They jump on the bridge to scare their schoolmates and parents as well. You can feel their excitement. My heartbeat then came running.
At first, I felt bored staring at the children playing around on the river. you could hear splashing water, children shouting in excitement, parents chit-chatting while watching their children play around with their classmates. I were alarmed when the children started throwing stones. They might hit something (an entity - which we Filipinoes believed) or might hit their classmates.
Then we proceeded to the next activity, tube riding. As a sweeper, I await for the last participant to ride. I we're also made to ride the floating device made of tires tied together to accompany the Pre-School students. Luckily, I brought
extra shirt and pants.
After the the tube riding we then proceeded to the falls. Trekking, river crossing, raft riding and getting wet were some of the experiences the students encounter in the next activity. They we're awed with the picturesque view of the falls. They enjoyed the rushing cold water of the falls.
After the wet activities we proceeded to the dry activities concentrated to team building. I enjoyed watching the kids play. The team leader then tasked me to help on the wet activities because the other group have more pre-school participants.
To culminate the end of the event, a refreshing snack were served. It's time to tidy up and prepare to depart the park.
The event opened my mind. I need to undergo training and skill enhancement, especially First Aid. I encountered a parent almost having asthma attack on the trail going to the falls. As an adventurer, I need to equip myself with skills not only with equipments.
Special thanks to Prime Orienteer for giving an opportunity to be part of the event.
